Dale Earnhardt, Jr., on Chevy Volt: ‘The Technology Isn’t There Yet’

If Dale Jr. weren’t wearing that Chevy Logo on his his jacket and his team sponsored in a big part by Chevy, I wonder what he really would have said….

(CNSNews.com) – NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt Jr. said that Chevrolet’s “Volt,” a hybrid electric car, is a “good product” but the “technology isn’t there yet really to provide the consumer with something that can go a little further [in mileage] than that and do a little bit better job with that.”
At the National Guard Youth Foundation’s ChalleNGe Champions gala on Tuesday, CNSNews.com asked Earnhardt, “One of the cars that’s been getting a lot of attention, as far as green is concerned, is the Chevy Volt, and Consumer Reports today said that it’s actually, in their mind, inefficient because it only gets 30 miles to a charge – and it’s a lot of money, it’s an expensive car. What do you think about the effort that car companies have made, with specifically the Chevy Volt?”
No matter how much Obama Motors tries to ram the Volt down our throats, the 281 cars sold in February indicates Americans are smarter than that and can see that this product is a piece of shit!

2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season Begins Sunday

Finally, I"ve been waiting for this day since the last race in November last year!  The 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season begins this coming Sunday with the running of the Daytona 500.

I'm not much of a sports guy, although I watch some hockey, and a little football, and some baseball, but Stock Car Racing is my thing....I love nothing more then going to the local tracks in the summer time and hearing the roar of the engines and the smell of the hot iron and the rubber.  It is truly a beautiful thing!

For those of you familiar with NASCAR, there are some changes to the rules this year following Jimmy Johnson's fifth championship in a row, surpassing that of even his mentor and the man that introduced him to Hendrick Motorsports, Jeff Gordon who is a legend in racing in his own right.

From NASCAR.COM:

It's been quite an offseason for NASCAR following Jimmie Johnson's fifth consecutive championship. Not only is there a new point system across all three national series, but also added were wild cards in the Chase and drivers have to pick just one series to run for the championship.
The changes were made with an eye on competition and the fans, to make the sport better than ever. But which rule will have the biggest impact? Bill Kimm and Mark Spoor weigh in with their thoughts, read theirs and then weigh in with yours in the comments below. And don't forget to vote in the poll at the right.

Which rule change for 2011 will have the most positive impact?

I am looking forward to a exciting season this year.  I hope to see some wins from my boy Jeff Gordon this year, it would certainly be nice to see him in Victory Lane again, I also hope to see some good things from all of the Hendrick Drivers and even Tony Stewart of Stewart/Haas Racing who runs their cars with Hendrick motors in them.

"Boogity, Boogity, Boogity boys, let's go racin!!!"

Those Who Cling to Religion & Guns Rejoice...Speedweek has officially Started

I am back in my element once again...Stationed in front of the 46 inch HDTV watching the NASCAR Budweiser Shootout!  Speedweek at Daytona Speedway has officially begun thus launching the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season!

As usual, I am pulling for my boy Jeff Gordon to win, but it's not looking so good with 6 laps to go.  He's currently in 5th with 5 to go now.

Actually, I root for any one of the Hendrick drivers to win along with anyone that drives for Stewart/Haas Racing because they run their cars with....Hendrick motors of course!

2 laps to go and Ryan Newman is leading....

White flag is out and Jeffy boy has fallen to 7th...

Newman still leading and comes around but now it looks like Denny Hamlin and won the shootout!

Nix that, looks like they're giving the race to the number 22 Penzoil  car of Kurt Busch due to Denny Hamlin making the pass below the yellow line!

I can't wait to see the 53rd running of the Daytona 500!  Hopefully with the resurfacing of the track, there won't be the long race delay like last year due to a hole in the track.

Congratulations to Kurt Busch on his winning the 2011 NASCAR Budweiser Shootout!

My Favorite Season of All

On Sunday February 20, 2011 43 drivers will be rolling their Detroit Iron onto the resurfaced track for the 53rd running of the granddaddy of all stock car races......The Daytona 500!  This will be the beginning of the 2011 Sprint Cup Series amidst many changes in the points format, track, and the fueling system, I'm looking forward to another exciting year of NASCAR racing!

I'm hoping most of all that #24 Driver for Hendrick Motorsports, Jeff Gordon can turn his winless slump around this year and put some more wins and perhaps one more championship under his and Rick Hendrick's belt.

Having just moved to Vernon, Connecticut I'm currently seeking out a race track to hang out at on Saturday nights this coming summer...Have found a couple of what appears to be nice tracks running multiple classes of stock car racing...This Hillbilly Hebrew needs his speed fix this summer after being so freaking busy last summer with my youngest son graduating from High School, my granddaughter being born, my wife completing grad school, and my oldest son being deployed to Afghanistan, I had absolutely no time to go to the track last summer.  I'm planning on fixing that problem this year along with planting my ass along a river bank somewhere with a rod in one hand and a cold Becks NA in the other!
